engagement, ethical behavior or risk and opportunity oversight) in order to consider all aspects of the

MATERIAL TOPICS IMPACTING
STAKEHOLDERS
Mercuria has continued to gather feedback for the company’s Materiality Analysis through a
questionnaire where employees remained anonymous in providing their input on a range of Agenda
2030 related ESG topics that are presented in the scatter plot below. Employees gave weighted scores
for a range of topics ranging from zero, as not at all important, to 10 as being the singularly most
important. For each topic, a score was given both to the value an employee felt a topic should be given,
as well as the value that the topic actually was perceived as being given.
Broadly, the results indicate that our employees judge our organization is managing issues effectively
in that the emphasis placed on all topics is at least as strong, if not stronger than is felt to be warranted
by the topic, as is indicated by data points falling above the inclined 45-degree line. Our employees
pointed to emphasis on Anti-corruption, Environmental- and Socioeconomic Compliance, and Anticompetitive behavior as being both items that are, and correctly should be some of the heavily focused
points reflective of the character of Mercuria’s primary business in commodity trading. In comparing
with results from last year we also found that the overall weight scoring had shifted from being on
average around 6-7 in our poll last year (as indicated by the blue ellipse), to a higher 7.2-7.8 in this year’s
poll (as indicated by the green ellipse).
We attribute some of this shift in the overall weight scoring to our heightened internal discussion of ESG
related topics both as core company values, and as could be tangibly observed in our business’ growth.
In particular, we believe the considerable expansion in energy-transition and renewable markets trading
and business holdings was apparent throughout our organization.
