HUMAN
RIGHTS
Mercuria’s approach to human rights is aligned with the UN Guiding Principles (UNGPs) on Business
and Human Rights. Wherever possible, Mercuria leadership looks to engage with NGOs and other
stakeholders to ensure we are incorporating their perspectives into our processes. Protecting the
wellbeing of our employees and the wider community is always at the forefront of our business
operations and strategies.
The Mercuria leadership works tirelessly to ensure that our businesses are able to operate to their
fullest potential whilst protecting the welfare of our employees and in consideration of others involved
in our supply chains and operations.
DUE DILIGENCE ON HUMAN RIGHTS
Mercuria is accountable to the communities in the locations where we conduct business. Our thorough
KYC processes serve to identify, prevent, and mitigate against any human rights breeches which ensures
we fulfil our duty to adhere to the UNGPs. We also develop ethical value chains that advocate human
rights and support wider societal goals, as well as conducting human rights due diligence during the
relationship onboarding stage and throughout the duration of our relationship. All these processes
are subject to continual review and improvement so that as our access to information increases, this
intelligence is reflected in our activities.
The purpose of our due diligence process is to:
•
identify any actual or potential human rights risks
•
identify our responsibilities and leverage and the appropriate actions
•
mitigate any risks and ensure protection of workers and others who may be impacted by our
operations
•
monitor and review to ensure no new risks are evolving.
