PAYMENTS TO GOVERNMENTS
As part of its Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy, Mercuria prohibits the payment of facilitation
fees. Mercuria takes care to ensure that any fees being paid to a government agency in relation to
deals are legitimate payments and not facilitation payments, including payments in the form of gifts or
entertainment.
Facilitation payments are payments paid in addition to normal fees in an attempt to receive preferential
or expedited treatment. In addition to monetary payments, facilitation payments can take the form of
excessive gifts, exchange of goods, or preferential services/ agreements (quid pro quo). If employees
are requested to make additional or abnormal payments, Mercuria’s programs call for the request to be
escalated to Compliance for review, and that payment should not be made unless or until Compliance
approves the payment. The Compliance Team will further liaise with the Legal Group as part of its
assessment the validity of any additional or abnormal fees.
Below you can find information on the payments that Mercuria has made to governments in relation to
our extraction facilities.
